From Pumpkins to Progress: Using Food Production and Agri-tourism to Enhance Financial Sustainability

Finding additional resources for food programs can be a daunting project. This session will highlight several approaches from agricultural experts to create/expand this type of programming. We will highlight projects that were instrumental in creating an internationally recognized agricultural presence for Denver Botanic Gardens. For each of the operations, we will provide a sample budget and metric that is used to evaluate the qualitative and quantitative program performance. Participants will also receive their own budget worksheet to brainstorm. We will demonstrate how combining revenue-generating agri-tainment activities with a strong coalition of partners can generate crucial resources while connecting communities.
