HOURS OF WORK: 4/10’s, 6am-4:30pm, Tue-Fri, Occasional Weekends

The ideal candidate for this position will have experience in horticulture with a focus on desert plant life care and maintenance; have attention to detail; remain flexible with tasks and able to recognize priorities as they change; experience with irrigation repair and maintenance; knowledge of local pest, insect, and disease control; work well in extreme weather conditions while performing physically intense labor; and work well both individually and as a team member.

INTRODUCTION: Human Resources will screen applications and supplemental questionnaires for minimum qualifications. Candidates possessing the minimum qualifications will be forwarded to the hiring department for interview. The successful candidate may be required to pass a job-related physical evaluation.

Duties & Responsibilities 


Under general supervision, performs a wide variety of unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled and specialized duties involved in the horticulture, greenhouse, landscaping, cultivation, maintenance, and operations of the Las Vegas Springs Preserve (LVSP); installs, repairs and maintains irrigation systems for landscaped areas; maintains the appearance of LVSP grounds and facilities; participates in water conservation education and public awareness programs; provides horticultural assistance to LVSP staff and visitors and assists with native plant propagation, salvage programs and native seed repository; may provide lead work direction to other gardens workers; and performs related duties as assigned.

Preserve Gardens Worker I: Some experience in gardening or landscape maintenance.

Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:

A valid Nevada driver’s license may be required for some positions and the ability to maintain insurability under the Water District Vehicle Insurance Policy.
