Headquartered in New York State’s Hudson Valley, the Garden Conservancy
is a national nonprofit that works to save and share America’s outstanding gardens for the education and inspiration of the public.
The Open Days Program Coordinator will work on the organization and execution of Open Days, the Garden Conservancy’s signature national garden visiting program. The Open Days Program Coordinator is responsible for volunteer recruitment, cultivation, planning, and communications among a national team of regional representatives, garden hosts, various partnering organizations, and other volunteers who participate in Open Days annually.
Support and participate in the recruitment and retention of regional representatives, garden hosts, and greeters to achieve best outcomes.
Responsible for all correspondence related to these groups, including regular and timely mailings, daily email correspondence, and quick attention to volunteer and garden hosts needs that arise regularly during the course of the season.
Serve as the primary contact for regional representatives, garden hosts, partnering organizations and other volunteers.
Develop strong regular communications with these groups, monitoring satisfaction and managing the effectiveness of systems and processes.
Maintain and update all records for volunteers, garden hosts, and regional representatives into Raisers Edge database software.
Responsible for all data entry of Open Days guest registers into Raisers Edge database software.
Work with the Communications department to initiate press, marketing, and social media initiatives for Open Days.
Responsible for sharing program information and working with departments on special mailings, membership drives, and other promotions that relate to the Open Days program.
Has flexibility to travel and to work occasional nights and weekends for Open Days and Garden Conservancy events. Travel is primarily local and during the Open Days season, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.

• Maturity and experience handling board members and major supporters
• Excellent verbal, writing, editing and communication skills
• Detailed oriented with a high-quality customer-service ethos and perspective
• Ability work collegially and effectively with colleagues and volunteers
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Raisers Edge database software, email marketing software and contact management systems.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
