Friday November 13, 2015

The Fabaceae Collection of Boyce Thompson Arboretum has become the first primarily seed-based collection accredited by Plant Collections Network. Also known as the Desert Legume Program, it began in 1988 as a joint project of the Arboretum and the University of Arizona. Its’ internationally recognized seed bank of 1,454 taxa is housed at the university in Tucson, while 206 taxa are grown in field plantings and the Taylor Family Legume Garden at the Arboretum. Longtime curator Matthew Johnson has actively developed this collection since 1989.
