Grounds For Sculpture (GFS), the 42-acre sculpture park, arboretum, and museum in Hamilton, NJ, is pleased to announce the addition of Nancy Kieling to its board of trustees.

Kieling joins a now 16-person board, which includes Eric Ryan (president), and fellow members Gordon Gund, Roger Toner, Elizabeth Strong-Cuevas, Barbara Lawrence, Esther Novak, Scott McVay, Barry Zhang, Dr. Ariel Abud, Ulli Arendt, Tracy Dickinson, Dr. Penelope Lattimer, Marco Cucchi, Teri Cox, Michael Greenleaf, as well as esteemed board member emeritus and GFS founder, Seward Johnson.

“I am so pleased to welcome Nancy to the Board of Grounds For Sculpture,” says GFS executive director Gary Garrido Schneider, “She embodies the spirit of the community and brings leadership, expertise, and energy to the table. The majority of her career has been dedicated to helping nonprofit boards and staff build robust organizations, and we are fortunate to have her by our side as we continue to grow as a strong, sustainable organization that serves as a resource and asset for the community.”

Kieling retired at the end of 2014 from the Princeton Area Community Foundation, which she led as its President and CEO for over 20 years. During that time she built the Community Foundation, growing its assets from $300,000 to over $107 million, designed its grantmaking and scholarship programs which now exceed $10 million per year, and put the infrastructure in place to support a sustainable and successful nonprofit enterprise. Prior to her time with the Community Foundation, Kieling was a corporate lending officer in the Communications, Entertainment & Publishing Division of the Bank of New York and a regional director in the Office of Undergraduate Admission at Princeton University.

“Nancy Kieling is a great addition to our board with the experience she has had in helping to develop and grow many not-for-profits in the Mercer County area,” says Gordon Gund, GFS Board member, “GFS is very fortunate to have her as a trustee.”

Kieling holds a BA in history and German from the University of Wisconsin, and a MS Ed in Higher Education Administration from Old Dominion University. She also holds a certificate in Interim Executive Leadership from Support Center for Non-Profit Management/Partnership in Philanthropy. She has received numerous awards and served as the secretary of the Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce, and Chair of the Council of New Jersey Grantmakers. Kieling now consults with nonprofits eager to grow and achieve better results and sustainability.

“As a member and ardent admirer of Grounds For Sculpture, I am delighted to join its talented board at this most interesting time of growth. I greatly admire the Board and staff leadership and look forward to supporting them,” says Kieling.
