Established in 1922, The Morton Arboretum is an internationally recognized outdoor tree museum and tree research center located near Chicago. Through plant collections, scientific research, and education programs, the Arboretum encourages the planting and protection of trees for a greener, healthier, more beautiful world. Located on 1,700 acres are 222,000 plant specimens representing 4,600 different kinds of plants along with specialty gardens and natural landscapes, the Children's Garden, exhibits, 9 miles of roads and 16 miles of trails, and the Visitor Center featuring a store and restaurant. The Morton Arboretum annually serves 61,000 member households and welcomes 1,200,000 visitors.
