Lincoln Park Zoo

Lincoln Park Zoo is dedicated to connecting people with nature by providing a free, family-oriented wildlife experience in the heart of Chicago and by advancing the highest quality of animal care, education, science, and conservation. More than 1,800 different types of plants dot the zoo’s 49-acre landscape—from hydrangeas to 100-year-old oak trees—creating an urban oasis home to native birds, frogs, fish, turtles, insects, and more. The zoo’s Nature Boardwalk showcases 14 acres of restored natural areas including a serene, prairie-style wetland surrounded by a boardwalk, a restored black oak savanna, and many other habitat elements to support Chicago’s urban wildlife. Lincoln Park Zoo is a Level III accredited arboretum and holds a nationally accredited Herbaceous Perennial Hibiscus collection, featuring 82 cultivars of hibiscus with over 500 individual plants. Lincoln Park Zoo is also a proud member of the Association of Zoological Horticulture.
