Sandy Smith President of Friends of the Mounts Botanical Garden, Palm Beach County’s oldest and largest public garden, today announced two new members of the nonprofit organization’s Board of Directors:

+ Rachel Docekal brings 25 years of experience in enterprise building, governance, business and program development, fund development, customer and community relations, social media, and the creation, launch, and management of brands. She has worked for a variety of for-profit and nonprofit organizations, including serving as the CEO of the Hanley Center Foundation; Nova Southeastern University, the University of Pittsburgh, and the South Florida Science Museum. Named one of South Florida Business Journal’s 25 Most Influential Women of 2012, Docekal opened her own firm, The Lyrae Group, in 2015.   

+ Shawna Price is the proprietor of Garden Couture, Inc., a landscape firm specializing in high end residential maintenance, design, and installation since 2013.  Previously, she was in the horticulture industry for 15 years and has worked with many private properties in South Florida, the Bahamas, and the Virgin Islands. Price studied horticulture at Palm Beach State College and the University of Florida. She has been an active member of Mounts Botanical Garden for over 15 years as a member of various plant groups including the Bromeliad and Begonia Societies, and most recently, the Mounts Horticultural Committee. 

“Both of these extraordinary, talented, insightful professional women will be invaluable assets for Mounts Botanical Garden, as we continue to grow and attract new visitors,” says Smith.
