Longue Vue House and Gardens, a world-class house museum surrounded by eight acres of stunning gardens, is happy to welcome Hannah Chalew as the 2019 Artist-in-Residence. Longue Vue’s mission emphasizes the advancement of innovative thought and creative expression with a strong emphasis on education and community responsibility. We believe Chalew’s interest to create a sustainable studio practice by incorporating recycled, free, and sustainable materials, and powering her artworks with renewable resources align with the Longue Vue mission.

I'm looking forward to spending time learning about the extensive plant collections, especially the native plants, as I build a new body of work that explores what it means to live in Louisiana landscapes in a time of global warming and beyond.” Hannah Chalew
Over the course of 2019, Chalew will participate in Longue Vue’s community programming through workshops for children, adults, and families. She will exhibit work created at Longue Vue during the residence with an exhibition in November 2019, and her studio will be open for visitation and creative conversation throughout the year.
