The North Carolina Arboretum, a 434-acre public garden and living museum located in Asheville, will be expanding its educational programming statewide to all 100 North Carolina counties thanks to a recent $1 million grant from the North Carolina GlaxoSmithKline Foundation. As part of the plan – which will occur over the next five years – the Arboretum will expand its K-12 science education programs, Project EXPLORE, ecoEXPLORE and Project OWL and work with school systems, libraries, environmental education centers, parks and other partners to provide STEM-based educational programming and learning opportunities to children across North Carolina.
