The WNPS Conservation Committee is soliciting proposals for Conservation Grants of up to $1500 (typical range $250-$1000). Total funds available for the 2018 cycle are $3000.
Proposals must further the conservation of Washington native plants and provide public benefit. Projects will restore, improve, or support on-the-ground, functioning native plant ecosystems. Plantings must be site appropriate.
Applications must be received by March 1 and awards will be announced by April 1. Remaining funds may be distributed on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the Conservation Committee.
Grant requests from WNPS members on behalf of WNPS chapters, organizations, or individuals will be considered. Projects must align with the Principles of the WNPS Conservation Statement. The link is available on the WNPS Conservation webpage.
Proposals will be evaluated based on:
- Support of the WNPS Conservation Principles and/or local chapter interests
- Quantity and quality of ecological benefit to be gained
- Likelihood of long-term project success
Preference may be given to students and first time recipient team projects, and chapters or organizations with limited financial resources. If possible, grant awards will be distributed geographically across the state.
The grant payment for funded projects will be paid when the project is completed and a final report and all receipts are submitted. The final report will be 300-500 words in length and include photo documentation suitable for publication in Douglasia and on the WNPS website. Recipients are required to publicly acknowledge WNPS funding in publicity material.
