Hagley Museum and Library is pleased to join the American Public Gardens Association as an Institutional Member in support of the Association’s vision of a world where public gardens are indispensable. Located on 235 acres along the banks of the Brandywine River in Wilmington, Delaware, Hagley is the original site of the gunpowder works founded by E. I. du Pont in 1802, and includes the first residence and gardens of the du Pont family in America.
As a neighboring institution of the American Public Gardens Association in the Brandywine Valley, Hagley recognizes the value of partnership in welcoming visitors to experience the rich legacy of horticulture in northern Delaware and southeastern Pennsylvania. Hagley Museum and Library is also proud to be an institutional partner of Greater Philadelphia Gardens, an alliance of public gardens, arboreta and historic landscapes focused on promoting the Philadelphia region as “America’s Garden Capital” and encouraging visitors to experience more than 30 gardens all located within 30 miles of the city of Philadelphia.
