Myriad Botanical Gardens was awarded the top award winner for the Urban Land Institute’s 2015 Open Space Award.  The garden was selected as a global co-winner with Thousand Lantern Park in China. Amanda Burden, the New York City urban planner, presented the award on Oct 8, 2015, in San Francisco at the national Urban Landscape Institute's conference.

Myriad Botanical Gardens was one of six finalists that included:

Marina Bay in Singapore
Thousand Lantern Park, China
Tongva Park and Ken Genser Square, Santa Monica, CA
Washington Canal Park, Washington, D.C.

This is the first time a botanical garden has been selected to receive the top honor.
