Ilex

Thursday November 12, 2015

The University of Washington Botanic Gardens holds four Nationally Accredited Plant Collections, including Ilex (hollies), Quercus (oaks), Acer (maples) and Magnolia.  We maintain a large Ilex collection consisting of 100 taxa and hundreds of individual specimens. The collection received National Accreditation by the Plant Collections Network in 2002. Most of the hollies reside in our Ilex Collection section, which is arranged by clade in the Washington Park Arboretum.  The hollies are at their peak from November through February.
