Filoli Hires Chief Development Officer and Appoints Three New Members to Board of Directors

Filoli Historic House and Garden, a site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and one of the last country estates reminiscent of the Gilded Age, welcomed Ryan Pasco as Chief Development Officer, a newly created role on the organization’s leadership team. With more than 12 years of direct professional experience in fundraising, Pasco will oversee a comprehensive development function that engages donors and builds an institutional culture of philanthropy as a sustainable financial resource for the nonprofit. Filoli also announced that Tabitha Almquist, Joyce Hammel, and Margaret London have joined the Filoli Board of Directors as members.

We are thrilled to welcome Joyce, Margaret, and Tabitha to the board and that Ryan will bring his energy and expertise to our leadership team to help secure Filoli’s financial strength and sustainability.”

Originally from Ohio, Ryan began his career in development at the Victoria Theatre Association in Dayton. He has held progressive roles in development at relevant nonprofit organizations including the Detroit Zoo, the Dayton Art Institute, and Maple Knoll, a senior community. Prior to joining Filoli, Ryan most recently served as the Director of Philanthropic Giving for the NorthBay Healthcare Foundation in Fairfield, California. Ryan holds a BS in Business Administration and Management from Indiana Wesleyan University. He and his wife, Brittany, have three children and currently live in Vacaville.

The Filoli Board of Directors is responsible for the governance and support of Filoli Center as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. It is composed of individuals from the local area that are committed to Filoli’s mission of connecting our rich history with a vibrant future through beauty, nature, and shared stories. This year, Tabitha Almquist, Joyce Hammel, and Margaret London have joined the board.

Tabitha Almquist is the Chief Administrative Officer at the National Trust for Historic Preservation and serves as its ex officio representative on the Filoli Board of Directors. She has served in multiple senior leadership roles at the National Trust for Historic Preservation for two decades. Prior to taking on the role of Chief Administrative Officer, Tabitha served as Chief of Staff for two CEOs (Richard Moe and Stephanie Meeks), developing her skills of nonprofit management, governance, and fundraising. She supported both CEOs in various ways through the development and implementation of fundraising campaigns, including a $300 million comprehensive campaign and the African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund. Tabitha holds a BA in Journalism from The George Washington University and currently lives in the Washington, DC area.

Joyce Hammel is a longtime member of Filoli and recently retired as the Director of Diversity, Inclusion & Strategic Organization Development from University of California, San Francisco. Joyce is a member of Filoli’s Diversity, Equity, Accessibility & Inclusion (DEAI) Task Force. She brings decades of experience in all aspects of human resources management and strategic organization development. Joyce has practiced and honed her approach of identifying risks and problem areas early, and either preventing issues from arising or facilitating mutually beneficial solutions. She is a life coach and has served as a community mediator, professional facilitator, certified investigator, and skilled trainer. Joyce holds a BA in Clinical/Medical Social Work from Kent State University.

Margaret London was born in Carmel-by-the-Sea and currently resides in Atherton with her husband Craig. She and Craig own Woodside Farm Vineyard and also work in the farming industry in California’s Central Valley. Margaret is a longtime community volunteer, and she has been active in both the Atherton Junior League and the Atherton Garden Guild.
