The Tree Research and Education Endowment Fund (TREE Fund) works to support the discovery and dissemination of new knowledge in arboriculture and urban forestry.
To that end, the fund welcomes applications for its John Z. Duling Grant Program, through which grants of up to $25,000 over one to three years will be awarded in support of innovative research and technology transfer projects that benefit arborists in their everyday work.
In 2020, the program will be focused on urban forest management. Suggested areas of inquiry include inventory and/or resource assessment; development of management guidelines; the establishment, quantification, and/or maintenance of ecosystem services; pest/pathogen management; and the assessment/maximization of ROI in urban forests. Research proposals and applications from a range of academic and technical disciplines of both a qualitative and a quantitative nature will be considered.
Letters of inquiry of up to a hundred words are due September 15. Upon review, selected applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal by October 1, 2020.
