College and University Gardens Professional Section

This committee examines the ways in which college and university affiliated gardens can serve their primary audiences of faculty, students (both collegiate and pre-collegiate), staff, and the general public through the development of collections, educational programs, interpretation, and research efforts, and by channeling the human, technological, and financial resources of their academic institutions and communities.

The committee presents members' knowledge of the unique challenges of college and university gardens through publication of articles, presentation at meetings, convening of symposia, and information exchange among members, serving as a liaison between the academic and research resources of college and universities and the general APGA membership.

As a critical part of its service to the APGA, the committee seeks to mentor and advocate for gardens of all types associated with institutions of higher learning, providing information on best management practices and prioritization strategies within an institutional setting, providing guidance on creating, maintaining, and protecting garden assets.
