The Museum Assessment Program (MAP) is a confidential process meant to encourage strategic planning toward the goal of institutional excellence. It has been specifically designed to address the strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities as they relate to how well a botanic garden is fulfilling its mission. This session will examine the commitment of resources and the potential benefits of MAP review from the perspective of a peer reviewer, the administrative staff of two botanic gardens which recently underwent a MAP and the Senior Director, Museum Standards & Excellence, AAM, which co-sponsors MAP reviews.
