North American Plant Collections Consortium [NAPCC]

NAPCC is the recognized standard for excellence in plant collections management and demonstrates a garden's enduring commitment to global efforts to save plants. It networks public gardens to coordinate a continent-wide approach to plant germplasm preservation, and promotes curatorial excellence. Let’s Move! Museums & Gardens

APGA has worked in partnership with the Association of Children's Museums, the American Association of Museums, and the Institute for Museum and Library Services to develop Let’s Move! Museums & Gardens. First Lady Michelle Obama announced Let’s Move! Museums & Gardens as part of her broader initiative to raise a healthier generation of kids.

 

US Forest Service MOU

This broad agreement relates to the conservation and management of plant species and their habitats and ecosystems through cooperative efforts. It includes formal and informal conservation education programs for children and adults. It allows access to USFS lands and resources by APGA members, streamlining the collecting permit process for plant materials, and to work on other mutual training, development programs, and other conservation projects/strategies of mutual benefit to both parties.

 

APGA Publications

The Public Garden--THE professional journal for public gardens. Each issue is filled with the latest trends and industry information. Available in print and on-line. APGA Member Gardens can choose to receive up to 25 copies of each issue to share with their board members and staff. Each month, APGA members receive the e-Newsletter. Each issue features information on all APGA programs, corporate member profiles, people and gardens, funding opportunities, and latest information from the Career Center. Members also receive discounted rates our APGA’s popular research studies including the Compensation and Benefits Survey.

National Public Gardens Day

National Public Gardens Day is a national day of celebration to raise awareness of America’s public gardens and their important role in promoting environmental stewardship and awareness, plant and water conservation, and education in communities nationwide. All APGA Member Gardens are invited to participate.

 

Traveling Exhibits

Traveling Exhibits at a Discount for APGA Member Gardens Rent one (or more!) of four brand new traveling exhibits at a 10 percent discount (for APGA member gardens only). APGA receives many requests about how to find new exhibits that will attract more visitors and increase membership. This year, four APGA member gardens—Botanic Garden at Smith College, The North Carolina Arboretum, Morton Arboretum, and Longwood Gardens—have developed traveling exhibits and have agreed to offer an exclusive discount to APGA member gardens.

 

Better Homes and Gardens Subscription Program

APGA Introduces the Return of the Better Homes and Gardens Subscription Program. As a part of its partnership with Better Homes and Gardens, the APGA announces a new benefit for garden members which will provide each with the ability to offer subscriptions to BHG magazine to new and renewing members. In addition, the benefit extends to all interested APGA individual members.

Esri - Arc-GIS for Public Gardens Program

The Esri partnership is back and the process is easier than ever! As a part of a strategic goal to support collections management and plant conservation by our member gardens, the American Public Gardens Association has extended its partnership with Esri by renewing an agreement that provides APGA member gardens with low-cost GIS software packaged with books and free training as well as with free registration for their staff to the Esri International User Conference. The latter is a tremendous week-long professional development opportunity for garden curators and GIS specialists, attended by more than 10,000 GIS and conservation scientists from around the world.

 

Tech Soup

TechSoup Donates Name-Brand Software to Nonprofits, Including APGA Members.
