Visitor Experience Coordinator

Classification: Full Time, Non-Exempt
Location: Hockessin, Delaware
Mt. Cuba Center seeks an enthusiastic Visitor Experience Coordinator who will provide excellent skills and services in support of the Visitor Experience Team. Mt. Cuba Center is a non-profit horticultural organization dedicated to the study, conservation, and appreciation of plants of the Eastern United States, with a particular emphasis on the Piedmont region. 
The Visitor Experience Coordinator is instrumental in supporting the needs of the visitor experience program as directed by the Manager of Visitor Experience.  By utilizing excellent interpersonal and project management skills he/she will provide exceptional customer service to the public, staff, and vendors in executing visitor experience initiatives. The Visitor Experience Coordinator sets the tone and expectation of visitors to Mt. Cuba Center.
  • Maintains accuracy in ticketing systems for general admission and public/group tours.
  • Processes and executes all booking and reservation requests for group tours, picnic area, and facility rentals, including booking confirmations, communication of changes to participants, contract execution, and collection of payment.
  • Organizes and sets up resources for event, facility rental, tour, and open day needs, which includes coordinating staffing, technical requirements, materials or other presentation requirements, facility logistics, and event break-down. 
  • Provides on-site coordination and customer service for visitor experience events and facility rentals between appropriate staff members, vendors, and visitors. This includes responding to inquiries and making suggestions to help successfully execute events on behalf of the requesting party.
  • Coordinates and executes Speaker’s Bureau Program protocols as implemented by the Manager of Visitor Experience when requests are made. 
  • Responds to requests for information pertaining to open days and tours. 
  • Supports the Manager of Visitor Experience in the planning and execution of special events.
  • Provides administrative support to the Manager of Visitor Experience by delivering weekly reports on revenue and attendance, assisting with staff scheduling, producing/distributing  the Docent Newsletter, reconciling the till in conjunction with accounting weekly, and other administrative duties as assigned.
  • Provides visitor reception coverage during events as needed. 
  • Is a member of the First Responder’s Team. 
  • Is an ambassador for Mt. Cuba Center.

Education, Skills, Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university in horticulture, business administration, hospitality management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with the staff and the public.
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills.
  • Experience with event management and customer service preferred.
  • Consistently high demonstration of Mt. Cuba Center’s core values.
  • • Proficiency in MS Office Suite is required; Experience in Adobe Suite is preferred.  
  • Horticultural knowledge preferred and practical work experience in public garden or tourism operations is desired.
  • Ability and willingness to work weekends, holidays and special events as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license. 
Date Available:  Immediately
