Tudor Place Historic House and Garden 


Tudor Place Historic House and Garden located in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, DC is seeking a part-time seasonal garden assistant for March through September. This position requires a good amount of flexibility, stamina and willingness to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.       Work as directed by the Director of Gardens & Grounds.
2.       Performs general garden maintenance including weeding, mulching, watering, raking, edging and some pruning.
3.       Keeps garden areas tidy and well-groomed by raking, blowing, sweeping and removing debris.
4.       Assists with Gardens & Grounds projects as needed.
5.       Informs Director of Gardens and Grounds of any problems, damage or needed repairs regarding the structures or garden.
6.       Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
1.       High school diploma or equivalent.
2.       Eighteen years or older.
3.       Knowledge of basic horticultural techniques, plants, and landscape maintenance.
4.       Ability to use light power equipment and hand tools.
5.       Ability to work outside in a variety of weather conditions.
6.       Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
7.       Ability to follow safety procedures for the operation of machinery and tools, as instructed.
8.       Ability to follow directions and communicate effectively with supervisor and co-workers.
9.       Display the necessary initiative and dependability to work alone or in a group.
10.   Be able to learn and perform assignments.

 

Work Schedule: 21 hrs/ wk, (3 days)
Date Available: March 2014
Compensation: $11/hr
