The Lyon Arboretum 

The Lyon Arboretum (University of Hawaii, Honolulu) is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and experienced manager of a vast tropical and sub-tropical living collection.  The Arboretum is a 200 acre public garden in Manoa Valley, 3 miles from the University campus.  It serves the university, State, and the community via its plant conservation programs and by offering a wide range of public programs.  The Manager of Collections and Grounds will lead a staff of gardeners, arborist, and ethnobotanist and will be responsible for supervising new plantings, developing plans to control invasive species, ensuring accuracy of maps and databases, and for regularly updating collections policies and management plans. 
 

The Arboretum is a member of APGA, BGCI, and CPC and has endorsed the International Agenda for Plant Conservation and is actively engaged in furthering the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation, CITES, and the IPEN (International Plant Exchange Network).  The Manager is expected to be supportive of all such initiatives and to manage the collections in the most environmentally sound way possible. Possession of a baccalaureate degree (Masters preferred) in horticulture, landscape architecture, or a related botanical field is required.  In addition, 3 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience in these fields is expected.
