Rocky Hills is an eight-acre strolling garden located in Mount Kisco, New York. The garden is currently looking for a full-time gardener for the 2014 season.
Responsibilities include: garden maintenance (i.e. watering, weeding, planting, pruning, and infrastructure care); coordinating the tasks at hand in the garden with contracted help and volunteers, and working with the garden’s owner and Garden Conservancy staff on tour and event preparations as needed.
The position is year-round and requires working some weekends, particularly in the early part of the season. The garden is open to the public several times during the year as part of the Garden Conservancy’s Open Days program, as well as for private tours.
The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, seasoned gardener, have a working knowledge of current garden practices, and have strong organizational skills both in recordkeeping and in managing garden operations. A valid driver’s license is required. The garden is a labor-intensive work environment; only applicants prepared for this should apply.
