Esteemed as the Green Heart of Pittsburgh and one of the world’s greenest public gardens, Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is empowered by its mission to inspire and educate all with the beauty and importance of plants; to advance sustainability and promote human and environmental well-being through action and research; and to celebrate its historic glasshouse.

Phipps is seeking a temporary Outdoor Garden Intern to work with the horticulture staff to plant and maintain the outdoor gardens at the Conservatory. Training will be provided in such skills as watering, planting, weeding, pruning, deadheading, mulching, propagation, IPM and plant identification, as well as other aspects of maintaining the gardens in exceptional condition. Must enjoy working outside, doing physical work, in the Pittsburgh climate. This paid, seven-week internship is open to anyone with previous gardening experience and a genuine interest in working at a botanical garden.
