Job Title: Children’s Garden Program Intern

Position Type: Part-time

 

Compensation: $10 per hour

 

Job Summary: Assist the children’s education and horticulture staff in providing a safe environment and educational opportunities for children and their families visiting the Mordecai Children’s Garden. Assist in the development and implementation of educational play based activities and family programs. Support horticulture staff in the development and maintenance of the Children’s Garden. Interns work both behind the scenes and directly in the garden to create a family friendly atmosphere for children to discover the natural world.

 

Qualifications: Advanced undergraduate or graduate student in the field of education, teacher preparation, museum studies, environmental education or horticulture. Coursework in early childhood education, child development, developmentally appropriate practice, science education, horticulture, native plants, landscape design, and floriculture is desired. Candidate should have an interest in pursuing a career in formal or informal education. Previous experience in working with children ages up to 8 years of age is required. Basic knowledge of environmental sciences and horticulture a plus. Familiar with Windows computers and software including Microsoft Office, Outlook and scheduling software and standard office equipment.
